Dear Brothers and Ladies
As I sit down to write this Easter Message to our Knights and Ladies throughout the world, lockdowns and restrictions continue in some form, in all of our countries.
Twelve months ago I wrote my first Easter Message just as international restrictions were being implemented. Restrictions which we all hoped would be short lived. Sadly that expectation was unfounded and here we are a year later still in the midst of this pandemic.
Therefore I am sure you would have forgiven me if my message was negative and downbeat; but Brothers it is neither.
During these last 12 months I have witnessed so much uplifting activity within our Orders across the world.
Orders adapting to circumstances in each of our countries. Knights facing the challenges of the restrictions to our lives but ensuring that the great ideals of Catholic Knighthood are promoted through the mediums that are open to us.
It was a particular joy when Fr Michael Givney was beatified in October. It was his foresight and vision that endures within each of our Orders, and like me, I am sure we all continue to pray that very soon he will be counted among the Saints.
Through Social Media and other channels I see every one of our Orders continuing their devotion to the faith, working in their communities and assisting those less fortunate than themselves.
So it is in this spirit of overcoming adversity to spread the good news and continue our great works, that we approach Easter 2021.
We approach it, not with our heads bowed in trepidation, but with them held high in hope and joy in the sure and certain knowledge that the risen Christ is with us in everything we do.
It is in that same sure and certain knowledge, Sandra and I wish all of you and your families a happy, blessed and holy Easter.
May Our Risen Lord also keep you safe and well during these times.
Blessed Fr Michael McGivney pray for us.
St Joseph watch over us.
